Who Would Jesus Smack Down?
By MOLLY WORTHEN
Published: January 6, 2009
Mark Driscoll’s sermons are mostly too racy to post on GodTube, the evangelical Christian “family friendly” video-posting Web site. With titles like “Biblical Oral Sex” and “Pleasuring Your Spouse,” his clips do not stand a chance against the site’s content filters. No matter: YouTube is where Driscoll, the pastor of Mars Hill Church in Seattle, would rather be. Unsuspecting sinners who type in popular keywords may suddenly find themselves face to face with a husky-voiced preacher in a black skateboarder’s jacket and skull T-shirt. An “Under 17 Requires Adult Permission” warning flashes before the video cuts to evening services at Mars Hill, where an anonymous audience member has just text-messaged a question to the screen onstage: “Pastor Mark, is masturbation a valid form of birth control?” full article

Do you Know What They're Watching???
Mind your children until TV cleans up its act
By Adrienne Washington
April 11, 2008
I know you know that lewd lyrics and bad booties are the staple of video music programming on cable, right? I also know that you know that you have to watch what your children watch on television, right? And that TV ratings don't always tell the truth, right? Or that the V-chip is able to block shows rated TV-14 and above, right?...read more

"Hate crimes" laws were defeated in Congress just a few months ago. Just a few weeks ago, Frank Wright of the National Religious Broadcasters Association warned, "We must be one in Christ to face the days ahead" because "hate crimes" laws would create untold new liability for Christians.
Now a major Christian ministry has confirmed that such "hate crimes" laws already are setting limits on what it can broadcast...read more

Schwarzenegger says he would fight efforts to ban gay marriage
By ALLISON HOFFMAN
The Associated Press
SAN DIEGO
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said Friday that he would fight an initiative to amend the California Constitution to ban gay marriage if it qualifies for the November ballot.
Schwarzenegger said he was confident that such an amendment, which already are on the books in 26 other states, would never pass in California and called it a "waste of time."
"I will always be there to fight against that," Schwarzenegger said, prompting loud cheers and a standing ovation from about 200 people at the annual convention of the Log Cabin Republicans, the nation's largest gay Republican group...read more

Putting your Money where your God is!!!
By George L. Ortiz - The Christian Philanthropic Foundation Reporter
Wed, Mar. 13 2008 5:45 PM ET
There is an epidemic that has been spreading throughout the world for the least twenty years. At one time America was immune from this dreaded disease.
That time has come and gone.
Long gone are the days when America was proud to put "its money where" its mouth or heart was. Many Christians are proud to declare what they feel, talk about that they don't like, but are paralyzed when it comes to acting or supporting Christian causes.
But the tide is changing.
The Orlando Sentinel reported that $1 million dollars was raised to fight same-sex marriages. What was truly shocking was not that they raised the money but that they did it in 60 days. The Republican Party gave $400,000 of its own money to support the measure. Even the Democrats pitched in money.
A man who is a well-known Palm Beach philanthropist, Don Burns, personally put up $250,000 as a challenge grant to be matched by other donors. The entire effort was coordinated by an organization called Florida4Marriage.org
You may be one of those people that give to the "United Way" or "The Boys & Girls Club", or even the "Save the Whales" fund. And I applaud you for that. It is commendable and right...for some. But for those that are called to be children of God...it's time to decide on which side of the road you belong. Your money is much better served at your church, Christian causes, legislation, lobbying and support.
While you are reaching in your pocket for $4 for another Starbucks lostmysoulccino...somewhere in California they are passing a law abolishing home schooling...Florida is lifting the ban on same-sex marriages...Pastors across the country are being accused of hate crimes for preaching from the Bible...and your local Christian radio station has to shorten Dr. Dobson's - "Focus on the Family" to give equal time to a gay Wicca couple from Massachusetts that wants to speak to your children.

LOS ANGELES, March 5, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Thousands of homeschoolers in California are left in legal limbo by an appeals court ruling that homeschooling is not a legal option in the state and that a family who has homeschooled all their children for years must enrol their two youngest in state or private schools.
